Admission Requirements and Application Procedures

Electives

Students will work with their academic advisor to choose four 3 credit hour elective courses from the approved elective list.

MPH Practice Experience

All MPH students are required to complete a Public Health practice experience internship. This requirement is based upon the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation.

This course provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience addressing MPH foundation and concentration-specific competencies, as well as achieve multiple accreditation requirements for applied practice and integrative learning experiences. Students commit to a three-semester experience with a qualified site supervisor and practice setting that promotes the synthesis and application of MPH competencies. Students are required to complete two products that utilize MPH competencies and make a meaningful contribution to their internship site. The internship is supervised by an HSC instructor of record as well as an internship site supervisor.

Prerequisite: Students must be in good academic standing with the university and have completed all required courses during the first year cohort program or have completed at least 21 SCH as an online student. Students must successfully complete tasks in the zero-credit hour Pre-PHED 5297 canvas course prior to enrolling in the three course practice experience sequence.
