NURS 4316 Psychiatric Mental and Behavioral Health

3 SCH. This course focuses on delivering whole health, person-centered care to patients, across the lifespan with altered psychiatric mental health and substance use disorders. Topics include enhancing mental health approaches and strategies, evidence-based standards of care, therapeutic communication, stigma reduction, legal and ethical issues, advocacy, self-care, and safety. Learners will have experiential learning opportunities to develop and reinforce clinical reasoning that guides decision making across all spheres of care, exploring this population’s health care needs, addressing health disparities and accessible care.
