EPID 6332 Practical Applications in Epidemiology 3 SCH. This course is intended to provide students in epidemiology dealing with research in human populations an understanding of the everyday tasks faced by an epidemiologist working in the research field, including generating hypotheses, measuring exposures, weighing advantages and disadvantages of different types of information-gathering tools, deciding which population to study, understanding the IRB approval process, developing a study budget, recruiting subjects with sufficient response rates, designing data collection tools, managing data, and disseminating study findings.
