MPAS 5325 Physical Exam Skills with Lab


3 SCH. This course teaches the novice PA how to perform a complete physical examination on an adult patient. Learning experiences include lecture, laboratory, and small group activities which are utilized to deliver the skills needed to successfully perform a thorough physical exam. The student will learn correct examination techniques, selected special physical exam maneuvers, interpretation and reporting of physical exam findings, and patient education relative to the physical exam. Emphasis is placed on recognizing normal findings, but selected abnormalities are also presented and discussed. This course also introduces the student to proper documentation of a physical exam using appropriate medical terminology. Learning activities and assessments may include, but are not limited to, lectures, small groups, individual activities, lab participation, and written and/or practical examinations.
