Early Admission and Combined Undergraduate Programs

The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) offers several early admission and/or combined undergraduate/medical school programs. Many of these programs allow students to complete their path to the DO degree through an accelerated timeline. These programs are offered by way of established agreements with the following undergraduate institutions, listed below.

Primary Care Pathway Program
The Primary Care Pathway Program (PCPP) is a 2+1+4 program between TCOM, Midland College, the University of North Texas (UNT), and Midland Memorial Hospital. The program allows participants to complete both their premedical studies and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine within seven years as opposed to the traditional eight-year pathway. Participants complete their first two years at Midland College. Students apply for early medical school admission during their second year at Midland College. Students who have been admitted to TCOM complete their third year of undergraduate study at the University of North Texas. The final four years of study are completed at TCOM where students may earn their DO degree.

Seven-Year (3+4) Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (BA/DO) Accelerated Program
The accelerated BA/DO program allows undergraduate students at UNT to complete both their Bachelor of Arts in Biology and their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree in an accelerated seven-year timeframe. Students complete the first three years of study as an undergraduate student at UNT. During their third year of undergraduate study, students apply for early medical school admission. Students who are admitted to TCOM will begin their first year of medical school in lieu of their fourth year of undergraduate study. Students can apply for graduation from UNT with a Bachelor of Arts degree upon successful completion of the first-year curriculum at TCOM.

Seven-Year (3+4) Bachelor of Science in Biology/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (BS/DO) Accelerated Program
The accelerated BS/DO program allows undergraduate students at the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNTD) to complete both their Bachelor of Science in Biology and their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in an accelerated seven-year timeframe. Students complete the first three years of study as an undergraduate student at UNTD. During their third year of undergraduate study, students apply for early medical school admission. Students who are admitted to TCOM will begin their first year of medical school in lieu of their fourth year of undergraduate study. Students can apply for graduation with a Bachelor of Science degree from UNTD upon successful completion of the first-year curriculum at TCOM.

University of Texas at Arlington Bachelor of Science in Engineering Early Admission Program
Students enrolled in the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) may apply for early admission during their third year of undergraduate study in biomedical engineering or in a related engineering discipline. To be considered for early admission, students must complete the medical school application and admissions requirements, as well as obtain approval from the UTA College of Engineering.
