MEDE 7312 Hematopoietic System 1

3 SCH. Broad topic areas to be emphasized include peripheral blood cell morphology, bone marrow and spleen histology, biochemistry of hemoglobin, red cell membrane, and cytoplasmic enzymes; leukocyte morphology and physiology, hemostasis and coagulation. Throughout the courses, the language of medicine is emphasized in conjunction with morphology, clinical features and differential diagnoses, where appropriate. In addition, important pathologic aspects of clinical laboratory involvement and data utilization in the diagnosis of disease are discussed.
