MOMG 6302 Advanced Microbial Genetics

3 SCH. This course covers the major aspects of prokaryotic DNA replication and its control, transcription and translation, regulation of prokaryotic gene expression, mutation, horizontal gene transfer, the genetics and replication of bacteriophage, global regulatory schemes, and some prokaryotic bioinformatics. Prerequisites include: microbiology and biochemistry. Knowledge of prokaryotic cell structure, the usage of the genetic code, and the structure of amino acids, DNA, RNA, and proteins is essential. Having completed BMSC 6305 is recommended. Cross-listed as MOLB 6302.
