Emphasis in Pharmacy Compounding


Students wishing to complete the Concentration in Pharmacy Compounding will take core skills lab courses including non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding, followed by the elective course in advanced compounding.   Those wishing to continue with the concentration program will take a 1 hour special topics course and during the APPE year will complete an APPE elective rotation in a compounding pharmacy. This combination of courses is 14 hours of programming dedicated to the topic of pharmacy compounding.  

After completing the Concentration in Pharmacy Compounding, students will be: 

  • Job ready for employment by a compounding pharmacy

  • Prepared to develop and implement unique solutions to meet the needs of patients 

  • Familiar with drug delivery systems and dispensing devices 

  • Able to assist patients in maximizing their treatment plan 

  • Able to understand, adhere, and implement laws and rules related to compounding 

Completion of the program will be acknowledged in a visible block on the transcript denoting the Concentration in Pharmacy Compounding.  The outcome of successfully completing the educational track will be documentation of the accomplishment on the student’s transcript and a certificate/letter of completion.  (left out info on graduation cord unless we can verify that this will be possible)

The number of students accepted for completion of the Concentration in Pharmacy Compounding will be limited to 10 students per graduation class.  Those interested must be students in good standing who are not on academic probation, and must submit their resume and a letter of interest to their SEAS coordinator before being enrolled in the program.
