3 SCH. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the history of tobacco use and its impact on morbidity and mortality. Students learn about the production and marketing of tobacco products; the relationship between smoking and disease; the politics of tobacco legislation; effects of government and workplace regulatory policies; industry responses to regulation; research on smoking cessation and tobacco use in developing nations. Prerequisite: Student must complete BACH 5300 or obtain permission of the instructor. Offered Spring Letter Grade
