MEDE 9441 Elective Clerkship - Emerging Technologies in Medicine

4 SCH. From electronic medical records, wearable technologies, telemedicine, virtual reality, micro and nanotechnologies, big data analytics, robotics and artificial intelligence, healthcare is becoming more and more technology dependent. Since many patients have direct access to the latest technologies, many of which are not regulated, and may intend to use these in their lives, health care providers as well as students need to acquire the skills to critically appraise and integrate technology in practice. In this course we will discuss how to evaluate the usefulness of new technology at the clinical point of care and discuss new emerging technologies that are poised to benefit or disrupt healthcare delivery.
