Admissions Requirements and Application Procedures
HSC conducts holistic application reviews. A completed bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is required. No specific degree or prerequisite coursework is required. Furthermore, there are no specific score requirements for GPA or GRE scores.
Applications are reviewed once they have been completed and verified by SOPHAS. UNTHSC does not offer conditional or provisional admission. All items must be received in order for an application to be reviewed and a decision rendered.
To Apply:
- Create an account in SOPHAS online application portal.
In addition to the SOPHAS required documentation of official U.S./Canadian transcripts and C.V./Resume, please provide the following additional documentation with your application.
- Statement of Purpose and Objectives (personal statement). This document should describe your interest in the field of study (degree and concentration) to which you are applying, your career goals, how the program will help you reach those goals and why you chose the UNTHSC School of Public Health to pursue your graduate education. Please note your specific area of interest in regards to research and identify 2-3 faculty at UNTHSC in this area who could potentially serve as mentors.
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation. Ideal sources include academic professors, advisors and professional supervisors. Physician shadowing letters are not recommended. Letters from peer-colleagues, friends or relatives are never appropriate.
- World Education Service (WES). ICAP Course-by-Course evaluation of academic records from institutions outside the U.S. and English-speaking Canada (if applicable).
- GRE Official Score Report. The GRE exam remains a requirement for the MS in Public Health program.
