PHAR 7225 Advanced Pain Management in Pharmacy Practice

2 SCH. This course will provide an in-depth understanding of multimodal pain management, including the pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches for various types of pain. Students will explore the assessment, treatment, and monitoring of patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. Students will learn specific hands-on tools for caring for patients in practice with pain, and how to identify and manage opioid use disorder. Students will be afforded the opportunity to obtain a Comprehensive Pain Management Certification through the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). Students will earn this certificate with the successful completion of all requirements.
Prerequisite: Successfully passed PHAR 7262 or its equivalent
