MPAS 5456 Psychiatry Practicum

4 SCH. This is a supervised clinical experience that focuses on the evaluation and management of patients with a variety of behavioral and mental health conditions. The practicum will provide the opportunity to develop an understanding of the role of PAs, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and nurses in the care of behavioral and mental health patients. Students develop the skills necessary to evaluate, monitor, and manage common behavioral and mental health conditions in outpatient and/or inpatient settings. Assessment is conducted using preceptor evaluations, written examination, documentation of patient encounters, and PASS Day activities.
