MIMG 6208 Advanced Biochemistry

2 SCH. The course will build on the foundations of biochemistry that were established in the core course (BMSC 6201). Several topics will be covered that highlight the interrelationship between basic metabolic pathways/biochemical principles and various health issues such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, malnutrition, and cardiovascular disease. The goal of this course is to provide students with an advanced understanding of the interplay between nutrition and metabolism in health and disease. This will facilitate higher order thinking, critical evaluation of current scientific literature, analysis and interpretation of data.
Prerequisite: BMSC 6200, 6201, 6202, 6203 and 6204
