MPAS 5285 Special Topics in Clinical Medicine

2 SCH. This course presents common conditions encountered in Hematology and Geriatric Medicine. Other clinical medicine subjects relevant to a PA in a primary care practice may be addressed in this course. The course focuses upon diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and patient management. Also covered is the relevant epidemiology, demographics, pathophysiology, expected history and physical, laboratory and imaging studies, treatments, and monitoring. Important patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention will be included. Learning activities may include lectures, labs, case studies, small groups, self-directed study and individual activities. Assessment is conducted using written and lab examinations.
