MEDE 9450 Elective - Medicine and Wikipedia

4 SCH. This is a 4-week course open to 4th Year students at TCOM and is designed to encourage electronic healthcare literacy. Wikipedia has evolved to be home to more than 30,000 articles, in English, related to medicine and is accessed greater than 10 million times per day. It is safe to say that it is one of the go-to resources for healthcare information for the general public as well as those in the healthcare field. Volunteers involved in WikiProject:Medicine collaborate to promote factual, relevant, high-quality material on a variety of articles. This course is designed to encourage students to take an active role in sharing knowledge while immersing themselves in current research about the topic. Students will work to select articles, research, and then edit over the course of the month. This will be supplemented with peer review from fellow classmates. The goal is to empower students to make meaningful contributions to public platforms and continue the culture of collaborative knowledge.
